Cummins to Add 600 White-Collar Workers at Indiana Headquarters

Truck engine maker Cummins said Friday it plans to add 600 white-collar workers in a new office building at its headquarters city of Columbus, Ind.

The announcement is the third expansion project in southern Indiana announced by Cummins the past year.

Once the new building is filled in 2013, Cummins will employ nearly 3,000 workers in a Columbus, three times its local presence in 2008.

“Our success in global markets over the past few years allowed us to remain strong during the recent economic downturn and has positioned the Company for a period of accelerated growth,” said Cummins President Tom Linebarger.

Last July, Cummins announced a $200 million expansion of its Seymour, Ind., engine plant. The company also makes its heavy-duty ISX engines in Jamestown, N.Y.
