CVG Sets Mexican Facility to Supply Daimler Plants
Truck parts maker Commercial Vehicle Group will open a new facility in Saltillo, Mexico, as part of a new agreement with Daimler Trucks North America.
The new supply arrangement was announced Tuesday and is effective through 2014, CVG said in a statement. The deal covers DTNA’s plants in Saltillo and Santiago, Mexico, and three U.S. facilities.
As part of the deal, CVG plans to spend $4 million to $5 million on a facility in Saltillo, where Daimler’s biggest North American truck plant is located. CVG expects the Mexican facility to be operational next year.
CVG said it will provide Daimler with air-suspension and static seats, flooring systems, thermoformed plastic, injection-molded and soft trim interior components.
CVG components will be used in several DTNA truck models, including the Freightliner Cascadia, Columbia, Western Star and M2 platform-based vehicles.
CVG, New Albany, Ohio, was a Daimler vendor before the latest supply contract was announced.
