CVSA Holds Another International Brake Day

On Sept. 6, the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance and the Canadian Council of Motor Transport Administrators sponsored International Brake Check Day.

The two organizations want to promote a greater awareness of the need for drivers and trucking companies to ensure that brakes are properly adjusted and defect-free. This year, three random brake check days have been scheduled.

For 16 hours, enforcement officers did random brake system checks on commercial trucks in Canada and the U.S.

These random checks are part of a program that includes level 4 brake inspections, distribution of pamphlets outlining how to check and adjust brakes, and giveaways like key chains and logbook rulers that help remind drivers to check their brakes every day.
