Edward Ryan has been named CEO of Descartes Systems Group, succeeding Arthur Mesher, the company announced Nov. 27.
Ryan had been chief commercial officer since 2000 and has more than 12 years’ experience with Descartes. Mesher, who had been CEO since 2004, retired for health and personal reasons, the Toronto-based company’s statement said.
In addition, the company said Scott Pagan is the new president, moving up from the post of chief corporate officer.
“We’re highly confident in the strong leadership that they will continue to bring to Descartes,” lead director Stephen Watt said. “Their appointments reflect the company’s succession plan and are based on Ed’s and Scott’s proven ability.
“Descartes’ business has grown significantly under Art’s stewardship as CEO. We appreciate all of Art’s contribution to Descartes’ development.”
The statement also said that Descartes anticipates record results when its fiscal third-quarter earnings are announced.
