Detroit Diesel Engines Certified for EPA 2010

Detroit Diesel Corp. said that its diesel engines have been certified by the Environmental Protection Agency for meeting the agency's 2010 emissions regulations.

Detroit Diesel’s DD13, DD15 and DD16 engines use selective catalytic reduction to reduce their emissions of greenhouse gases and particulate matter, DDC said in a statement Monday.

The engine maker received its certification Dec. 30, and Daimler Trucks North America has already put the 2010 engines on its assembly line for inclusion in its trucks. Both companies are units of Daimler AG.

DDC uses its BlueTec technology for SCR, and the technology also makes the engines more fuel efficient than previous years, DDC said.
