Diesel Pushed Up Nearly 4 Cents

The cost of diesel fuel leapt 3.7 cents last week amidst continuing concerns that low oil inventories will force a repeat of last winter’s price spikes. The previous week, diesel rose just 0.2 cents following four consecutive weeks of declines.

The federal Energy Information Administration reported that the national average price of diesel rose to $1.447 a gallon on Aug. 14.



The biggest jump came in California, a 6.4-cent increased brought the state’s price to $1.633 per gallon.

AAA, formerly known as the American Automobile Association, reported that diesel had risen to $175.17 in California and $149.59 nationally by Aug. 17.
