Durables Orders Rise 3.3%

Durable goods orders rose 3.3% in September led by a doubling of aircraft orders, the Commerce Department said Wednesday.

Orders for non-military goods excluding aircraft orders fell 0.6%, Commerce said.

Total orders for durable goods were projected by analysts to rise 2%, Bloomberg reported.

Durable goods include large items such as refrigerators and air conditioners. Trucking is a major beneficiary of durable goods manufacturing, hauling both components and finished goods.
