Dynamex Canada President Dies at 48

Dynamex Inc. said Monday that James Aitken, president of Dynamex Canada, died Sunday from complications following heart surgery.

Aitken, 48, joined Dynamex in 1998, the company said. He was promoted to president of the carrier’s Canadian operations in March 2004.

“Jim’s leadership and hard work were instrumental in the company’s development growth and the success the company has enjoyed,” the board of directors said in a statement.

James Welch, president of Dynamex, will assume Aitken’s responsibilities until the company chooses a replacement.

Aitken died in Ottawa, where he also lived.

Dallas-based Dynamex, which provides same-day delivery services, is ranked No. 60 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
