Epes Carriers said it has merged its trucking subsidiaries, Epes Transport System and Texas Star Express.
The combined company will have 4,000 trailers, 1,500 employees and will be called Epes Transport System with headquarters remaining in Greensboro, N.C., according to the company.
Texas Star Express will become the company’s Southwestern division operating a terminal in Rockwall, Texas, and the merged divisions will provide service to the eastern two-thirds of the United States.
“The merger of our two operating companies will now allow us to offer many more services and lanes to our customer base and also give our driving force additional opportunities for growth as well,” Epes President Britt Colley said in a statement.
Epes Carriers is ranked No. 81 on the Transport Topics Top 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
