Estes has closed on lease purchases for seven terminals across the country that used to belong to the defunct carrier Yellow Corp., the company announced Aug. 22.

The Richmond, Va.-based trucking company said the transaction adds a net-positive of 290 doors to its coast-to-coast network. Most of that comes from a single terminal in Charlotte, N.C. This puts its total door count at 11,832 across the country, with plans to add 940 more over the next nine months. Estes also reports it has remained debt-free following these purchases.

Estes ranks No. 11 on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of the largest for-hire carriers in North America and No. 4 among LTL players.

“These acquisitions are yet another example of our commitment to investing in resources that add capacity, all to better serve our customers,” said Webb Estes, president and chief operating office at Estes. “I applaud our team’s hard work and dedication for how quickly we’ve been able to deploy and take advantage of these new assets, which include hundreds of shipping containers and trailers, throughout our fleet.”

Estes said it has also purchased 6,800 additional trailers since the start of 2024. This increases its total to more than 45,000 across the country.
