Factory Orders Rise 0.6%, Commerce Says

U.S. factory orders rose 0.6% in June, the Commerce Department said Thursday.

The increase followed a 0.5% drop in May and was short of economists’ forecast of a 1% gain, Bloomberg reported.

Excluding transportation orders, bookings fell 0.5% following a 0.7% increase.

Durable goods orders, which make up just over half of all orders, rose 1.32.4% following a 2.4% gain in May.

The trucking industry relies on factory orders and shipments for much of its business.
