FedEx Express said Monday it has begun operations at its new Asia Pacific hub in Guangzhou, China, the company’s largest hub outside of the United States.
The $150 million hub is located at Baiyun International Airport in the heart of Guangzhou’s Pearl River Delta, a major international center of production and trade in the region, FedEx said in a statement.
“The launch of our new Asia Pacific hub is a significant milestone for FedEx and reinforces our long-term commitment to this region,” said Michael Ducker, president of FedEx Express’ international operations.
The new hub will be the center point of the company’s operations in the region for the next 30 years, FedEx said.
FedEx Express is a unit of FedEx Corp., ranked No. 2 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
