FedEx Removing 14 Jets From Service

FedEx Corp. will permanently remove 14 jets from service as part of an overall plan to reduce capacity and costs and will take a $180 million charge, the Associated Press reported.

FedEx said it will remove the jets, 10 Airbus A310s and four Boeing MD10s, along with some excess engines by May 31, AP said.

The company said late last month it may cancel a $7.7 billion order for new jets.

FedEx is ranked No. 2 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
