Florida to Void Tainted CDLs

More than 500 Florida truckers may lose their commercial driver licenses due to bribery linked to the CDL scandal in Illinois.

However, a Florida licensing official refuted claims by Illinois Gov. George H. Ryan that Florida might have as widespread a corruption problem in its CDL program as federal investigators had uncovered in Illinois.

A Florida driving instructor was recently charged with selling hundreds of licenses to applicants who never took exams.

“All indications we have is that the problem was just limited to one driving school,” said Sandra Lambert, director of driver licensing for Florida’s Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles.
