The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has extended by 15 days the deadline for public comment on its proposed enhancements to the display information on the agency’s Compliance, Safety, Accountability program website.
A preview of the CSA Safety Measurement System website enhancements were unveiled Nov. 5, but earlier this month, the Advocates for Highway and Auto Safety formally requested that the agency extend the deadline by 60 days.
The nonprofit group stated that, “Review of the topic requires considerable experience with the use of the CSA website and the SMS data in order to evaluate the display of information, assess the changes and formulate a clear understanding the changes may have on public access and comprehension of the [website] information.”
After reviewing the request, FMCSA only allowed a 15-day extension, until Jan. 21.
The agency said the suggested changes to the design of the SMS public website are the result of feedback from stakeholders regarding the information displayed.
