Will Take Input on Cross-Border Program Through July 9
DOT Secretary Mary Peters — James Kim for DOT
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration said Friday it is extending the public comment period for its June 8 Federal Register notice concerning the cross-border trucking demonstration program until close of business Monday, July 9.
“In the spirit of transparency, we have extended the comment period to give the public more time to review supplemental information added to the docket and because of technical problems due to relocation of the docket computer servers, which interfered with viewing access,” FMCSA Administrator John Hill said in a statement.
Prompted by Congressional concerns over safety and other issues, DOT strengthened reviews within the program, but Hill took aim at critics of the program in a recent Transport Topics online chat session.
