Ford, Telogis Expanding Telematics Partnership to Europe

Ford Motor Co. and technology supplier Telogis said they have expanded their commercial-vehicle telematics partnership to the United Kingdom, with other European markets to follow this summer.

Since 2011, Telogis has been the exclusive technology provider for Ford Telematics, formerly known as Ford Crew Chief, in the United States and Canada.

The telematics platform enables fleets to track vehicle location, driver behavior, fuel consumption and vehicle diagnostics.

“Real-time vehicle location and diagnostic data provides fleet customers with a powerful tool to manage their vehicles more effectively and also encourage safer driving,” said Paul McDermott, manager of commercial vehicle aftersales at Ford of Britain.

Ford Telematics is compatible with Ford’s latest range of Transit commercial vehicles as well as the Ford Ranger pickup. Companies also can install the same Telogis hardware on any other vehicles in the fleet, regardless of manufacturer, enabling them to view the entire fleet in one place.
