SAN DIEGO — The Eagles were the surprise guest entertainers at the Freightliner Trucks customer appreciation dinner on Oct. 6.
The event, which coincides with American Trucking Associations’ Management Conference & Exhibition, took place onboard the USS Midway aircraft carrier.
In brief opening remarks, Martin Daum, president of Daimler Trucks North America, thanked ATA for choosing San Diego as the MC&E host city, allowing Freightliner to select such a picturesque location for the 20th annual dinner. He then jokingly suggested the federation consider Alaska for a future conference location.
As he exited the stage, four parachuters landed on the carrier, just yards away from several dinner tables.
The Eagles then took the stage, playing about a 90-minute set filled with their greatest hits.
Guitarist Joe Walsh told the crowd he toured the Midway during a visit to Japan, back when it was still in active duty.
