Two companies that provide quotes for shippers looking to hire carriers to haul freight are coming together. Freightos, which provides instant-rate spot market quotes, has acquired WebCargoNet, which has an air cargo freight management system.
Freightos, which some compare to an Expedia for the freight industry, will expand the company’s database of air, ocean and motor carrier freight rates with hundreds of millions of rates and routes, a company statement said.
WebCargoNet will keep its independent brand, according to Freightos, providing online air cargo rates worldwide, and no immediate changes are planned to the structure of the company.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
