Frozen Food Express Industries reported a second-quarter profit, turning around a loss from a year ago, as its brokerage and logistics results improved.
The refrigerated carrier earned $1.1 million, or 6 cents a share, compared with a loss of $3.3 million, or 19 cents, a year ago. Revenue declined 5.6% to $95.7 million.
Truckload services revenue fell to $37.7 million, from $47.3 million, while less-than-truckload rose to $31.1 million, from $29 million.
Brokerage and logistics services operating revenue jumped to $6.6 million, from $1.5 million.
Frozen Food Express is ranked No. 61 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers and is the sixth-largest refrigerated sector carrier.
