Gas Prices Fall 7 Cents, Lundberg Says

Gasoline prices have dropped 7 cents in the last three weeks on a nationwide basis, the first drop since January, according to the latest Lundberg Survey, the Associated Press reported Monday.

Lundberg said in its twice-monthly survey that the U.S. average for self-serve regular gasoline fell to $3.11, down from $3.18 cents in its last survey, released May 18.

Higher gasoline imports helped alleviate prices, AP said, citing Lundberg. Gas prices reached a record high of $3.218 a gallon on May 21, according to the Department of Energy’s weekly price survey.

The national mid-grade average was $3,22 and premium was $3.33, Lundberg said.

Chicago had highest price, at $3.61 per gallon, while Jackson, Miss., had the lowest, at $2.87.
