Gasoline Declines 1.8¢ as Refineries Increase Output, Lundberg Reports

Gasoline declined 1.81 cents in the past two weeks to $3.63 a gallon, as refineries returned from maintenance, according to the latest Lundberg Survey of filling stations released Sunday.

The Exxon Mobil refinery in Joliet, Ill., is returning to its normal 238,000-barrel-a-day production after shutting down in April, Bloomberg News reported.

Prices may increase a few cents as retailers attempt to build back margins, according to Trilby Lundberg, president of Lundberg Survey.

Chicago had the highest price among cities surveyed, rising 23.7 cents in the past two weeks to $4.48 per gallon.

Jackson, Miss., had the lowest price at $3.20 per gallon. Gasoline averaged $3.73 in Long Island, N.Y., and $3.94 in Los Angeles.



The Department of Energy will release its weekly survey of diesel and gasoline pump prices Monday afternoon in Washington.
