Gasoline Dips 1.3¢ to $3.62, Lundberg Survey Says
Gasoline’s national average price dropped 1.33 cents in the past two weeks to an average $3.615 a gallon, according to the latest Lundberg Survey of filling stations released Sunday.
Gas prices have dropped more than 38 cents since reaching near $4 in early May, a more than two-and-a-half-year high, analyst Trilby Lundberg said in her twice-monthly report.
Mid-grade’s average fell two cents to $3.76 a gallon, while premium’s rose 8 cents to $3.98, according to the survey of 2,500 stations taken Friday. Diesel increased about 5 cents to $3.95.
Crude oil, the biggest component in retail gasoline and diesel pump prices, finished last week’s New York Mercantile Exchange trading at $96.20 a barrel, up $5.04 from two weeks ago, Bloomberg reported.
Phoenix had the lowest average price for regular gasoline, at $3.30 per gallon, while Chicago was the highest, at $4.03 per gallon, Lundberg said.
The Department of Energy will release its weekly survey of diesel and gasoline prices Monday afternoon in Washington.
