Gasoline’s national average price plunged 17 cents in the past three weeks to $3.74 per gallon, according to the latest Lundberg Survey of filling stations released Sunday.
The decline was due to falling oil prices over the past month and to declining demand, analyst Trilby Lundberg said in her twice-monthly report

Mid-grade’s average was $3.89, while premium’s was $4 per gallon, both down.16 cents, according to the survey, which was taken Friday.
Jackson, Miss., had the lowest average price for regular gasoline, at $3.41 per gallon, while Chicago was the highest, at $4.21 per gallon, Lundberg said.
The Department of Energy will release its weekly survey of diesel and gasoline prices Monday afternoon in Washington.
