Gasoline Gains 7.85¢ in Two Weeks to $3.84 a Gallon, Lundberg Survey Reports

Gasoline rose 7.85 cents in the past two weeks to $3.84 a gallon, analyst Trilby Lundberg reported in the latest Lundberg Survey of filling stations released Sunday.

Hurricane Isaac was the biggest contributor to the increase, said Lundberg, causing refinery closures.

The storm had had shut seven plants and forced four others to reduce operating rates.

About 13% of oil production from the Gulf of Mexico remained shut Sunday, according to the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement.

El Paso, Texas, had the lowest price among cities surveyed, at $3.44 per gallon, while Chicago was the highest, at $4.30.

A Bloomberg News survey showed that oil may decline this week on speculation that U.S. Gulf of Mexico crude output will resume after Hurricane Isaac.
