Gasoline Rises 12¢ to $3.41 on Lundberg Survey
The average U.S. retail price of a gallon of gasoline increased 12 cents to $3.41 on Feb. 21, from two weeks prior, according to Lundberg Survey Inc.
Company President Trilby Lundberg said the rise was due to a spike in the price of crude oil because of violence in Venezuela and South Sudan.
Lundberg said in a report released Feb. 23 gasoline is 38 cents lower than a year ago.
Lundberg said she expects further increases. The survey canvasses about 2,500 filling stations for its biweekly reports.
The average price of a gallon of midgrade gas was $3.60, and the average price of premium was $3.75. Diesel averaged $4.01 per gallon, the Associated Press reported.
The Department of Energy is scheduled to release its weekly survey of diesel and gasoline prices the afternoon of Feb. 24.
