Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. said it has replaced its super single tire for severe-duty applications with a model it said will last longer and get better off-road traction.
Goodyear’s commercial tire division said it has begun manufacturing the G278 MSD model, which it said will have “a one-inch larger footprint, deeper tread depth and special compounding.”
The new model replaces the G178 Super Single, Goodyear said May 9.
Goodyear, Akron, Ohio, said the new model came in a crisscross tread that provided better off-road traction and helped to “pump away water from the tread.”
The company said it designed the tire for construction, concrete, oil service and logging applications.
Goodyear said it would begin distributing matching retreads in June.
