Greatwide Acquires Overton Transportation

Greatwide Logistics Services said it has acquired Overton Transportation, a subsidiary of Sysco Corp.

Greatwide will integrate Overton's 70 tractors, 100 trailers and 133 employees, located in La Vergne, Tenn., into its business as the Greatwide Freight brand, the company said in a statement Monday.

“The acquisition of Overton Transportation allows us to provide new temperature-controlled logistics solutions that many of our grocery customers have requested,” said John Simone, president of Greatwide.

Overton is a long-haul refrigerated and dry van carrier, Greatwide said. Greatwide acquired Overton's contracts, personnel and equipment.

The companies did not disclose further terms of the acquisition.

Greatwide, Dallas, is ranked No. 34 on the Transport Topics Logistics 50 listing of U.S. and Canadian logistics companies.
