Greatwide Logistics Services said it has signed a contract with NewPage Corp., the nation’s largest maker of coated paper, for dedicated shipments in Wisconsin.

Greatwide will be a dedicated shuttle provider, meaning it will transport raw materials, such as pulp, as well as finished paper goods between several NewPage facilities in Wisconsin, the carrier said in an e-mail to Transport Topics.

“We look forward to developing a long-term relationship with NewPage,” said Jim Kitz, vice president of business development for Greatwide. “Greatwide’s expertise in the dedicated transport business and our commitment to the investment and development of technology sets us apart from our competition and positions us for success.”

The length of the contract and other terms weren’t disclosed.

Greatwide, Dallas, said the contract signed by its Dedicated Transport unit will require the hiring of 40 experienced drivers in the Wisconsin Rapids area.

Hiring is expected to be completed by the end of this month, drawing drivers from the cities of LaCrosse, Green Bay and Eau Claire. The trucking and logistics company intends to hire drivers who are at least 25 years old and possess at least one year of over-the-road experience.

Driver applications are accepted by phone at 800-687-2055 and e-mail at www.greatwidedriver.com.

“We’re excited to provide shuttle services on behalf of NewPage Corp. and bring these opportunities and our unique service offerings to the area,” Kitz said.

NewPage Corp., based in Miamisburg, Ohio, reported $3.1 billion in sales last year.
