House Panel to Hold Freight, Highway Bill Events

The House highways and transit subcommittee will hold a public hearing and a roundtable discussion to examine freight needs and the transportation authorization bill Congress is scheduled to write this year.

On Feb. 26, American Trucking Associations President Bill Graves will be among those meeting in the roundtable discussion with the subcommittee to discuss what the new transportation spending bill should contain.

The freight mobility hearing will be the next day. Among those testifying will be Henry Maier, president of FedEx Ground; and Susan Alt, senior vice president of North American public affairs for Volvo Trucks.

The roundtable also will include representatives from the retail industry, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, manufacturing, labor and infrastructure builders. The next day’s hearing also will feature state and local transportation advocates.

The current spending authorization bill, MAP-21, expires Sept. 30.
