House Republican leaders Monday delayed voting on a three-month extension of federal highway programs, Bloomberg reported.

House Democrats said they wanted the House to take up the longer, two-year highway bill passed by the Senate earlier this month, Bloomberg reported.

The House will take up an extension in a vote later this week, a spokesman for Speaker of the House John Boehner (R-Ohio) told Bloomberg.

If the bill is brought to the floor, a simple majority would be required for passage, Bloomberg reported.
