House T&I Special P3 Panel to Publish Final Report Sept. 17
The leaders of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee’s Panel on Public-Private Partnerships have scheduled a press conference Sept. 17 to release their final report.
Recommendations are likely to touch on strategies for improving access to private capital designed to advance multimodal transportation projects. They also could include establishing or expanding existing programs that help states and municipalities manage public-private partnerships, congressional aides told Transport Topics.
Several states have adopted P3 models as a way to fund large-scale programs, such as roadways and bridges. Others have created separate P3 offices, while some manage the private ventures within their departments of transportation.
This year, the P3 panel held several hearings with leading transportation experts and industry officials. Rep. John Duncan (R-Tenn.), the panel’s chairman, has indicated the report is meant to guide members of Congress in drafting a long-term transportation policy.
The event is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. in Room 2254 of the Rayburn House Office Building. Duncan, Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman Bill Shuster (R-Pa.), and the panel’s ranking member, Rep. Michael Capuano (D-Mass.), are scheduled to attend.
