Marshall Siegel, president of the Independent Truckers Owner-Operators Association, was sentenced to prison time, fines and restitution for his role in bilking truck drivers out of more than $200,000.

Siegel was sentenced on March 8 in the U.S. District Court in Boston to serve fifteen months in prison followed by three years of supervised release. He was also ordered to pay $215,546.16 in restitution and fined $4000.

Last November, Siegel pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy, wire fraud and making false statements to a federally insured bank (11-16-98, p. 4).

Prosecutors said Siegel and Marilyn L. Kriensky, an I-TOO office manager, overcharged truckers who participated in a program designed to help drivers get loans to buy trucks and pay for insurance.

Kriensky, who had also previously pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor, was sentenced to one year of probation.
