Industrial Production Flat in May

Industrial production was unchanged in May, the Federal Reserve said Friday.

The output level in production at factories, mines and utilities followed a revised 0.4% decline in April that was slightly better than the originally reported 0.3%.

Factory output, which is about four-fifths of the total, rose 0.1% following a 0.2% increase the previous month.

Economists had forecast a 0.2% increase, Bloomberg reported.

The factory sector is one of trucking’s largest and most important customers.
