Initial Jobless Claims Fall to 10-Month Low

Initial jobless claims fell to a 10-month low last week, the Labor Department said Thursday.

Claims fell 33,000 to 521,000 for the week ended Saturday, the department said in its weekly report.

Economists had forecast claims would fall to 540,000 from a revised 551,000 the previous week, Bloomberg reported.

The four-week moving average, a less volatile measure, fell to 539,750, from 548,750.



Continuing claims for the previous week ended Sept. 26 fell 72,000 to 6.04 million.
