Initial Jobless Claims Rise for Week

Initial jobless claims rose last week from the lowest level in four years the previous week, the Labor Department said Thursday.

Claims rose 34,000 to 386,000 for the week ended Saturday, Labor said.

Economists had forecast 365,000 claims, Bloomberg reported.

The four-week moving average, a less-volatile measure, slipped to 375,500 last week from 377,000.



Continuing jobless claims for the previous week ended July 7 fell rose 1,000 to 3.31 million.
