Intermodal, Rail Traffic Decline

Intermodal rail traffic fell 20.1% last week compared with the same week last year, the Association of American Railroads said.

Total intermodal volume fell to 188,801 units, from 236,384. Container volume fell 15.3%, while trailer volume plunged 37.7%, the group said.

Overall freight rail traffic fell 19.8% for the week, to 260282 carloads, AAR said in its weekly report. But that volume was the highest in nine weeks.
