International Trucks has begun production of the WorkStar vocational truck available with a Cummins ISB6.7 engine as an option.
Previously, the WorkStar was only available with Navistar’s proprietary 9.3-liter and 13-liter engines.
The Cummins engine is rated up to 325 horsepower and 750 pound-feet of torque and is available with higher ratings for fire and emergency use, according to International.
"Production of the WorkStar with Cummins ISB6.7 is an important milestone in meeting the needs of vocational customers by providing a comprehensive offering of proven components," Jeff Sass, Navistar International Corp., senior vice president of North America truck sales and marketing, said in a statement.
The WorkStar also is available with traditional manual and automated-manual transmissions from Eaton Corp. and comes standard with the Diamond Logic electrical system, what the company calls the “most advanced multiplexing architecture available in commercial trucks.”
The WorkStar with Cummins ISB6.7 “gives customers a winning combination of performance and strength,” according to Sass.
