Iowa Highway Reopens After Flood Repairs

Part of Iowa Highway 1 that had been severely damaged by heavy flooding last month has reopened, the state's transportation department said Wednesday.

The Iowa Department of transportation said that crews have completed an emergency repair project to grade and replace pavement on Iowa 1 between Solon and Mount Vernon, Iowa.

Pavement on that stretch of Iowa 1 had in places been completely washed away when the Cedar River overflowed its banks last month, the Associated Press reported.

Iowa 1 intersects with Interstate 80, a major freight corridor, near Iowa City, Iowa.
