Isuzu to Use SCR to Meet U.S. 2010 Standards

Isuzu Commercial Truck of America said it will use selective catalytic reduction technology to meet U.S. 2010 nitrous oxide emissions standards.

In a company statement, Isuzu said it will use SCR technology in Isuzu engines offered in trucks in the U.S. under the Isuzu, Chevrolet and GMC nameplates.

Isuzu said it will also continue using both a diesel particulate filter and exhaust gas recirculation, which it introduced in its trucks in 2007.

“Isuzu has been developing after-treatment technology in Japan for many years,” said ICTA executive vice president Shaun Skinner. “We’ve studied different systems, and found SCR to be highly reliable under even the most extreme applications and conditions.”

Isuzu makes Class 3-7 trucks for the U.S. market.
