UPS Freight President Jack Holmes will retire effective June 30 after 37 years with the company, UPS Inc. announced.

Rich McArdle, who is currently Mid-Atlantic district manager, was promoted to succeed him at the company’s less-than-truckload operation. McArdle joined UPS in 1982.

UPS ranks No. 1 on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of the largest U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.

“Jack’s contributions to UPS and the trucking industry are immeasurable,” Myron Gray, president of U.S. operations for UPS, said in a statement. “His strong leadership, deep industry knowledge and professional counsel have educated and inspired countless UPSers and others who have worked with him throughout his career.”
