Jennifer Botchie Named State Reporter

Jennifer Botchie, assistant editor for Transport Topics’ Web news team since July, has joined the print staff’s ranks as a reporter.

Botchie will cover the state news beat for TT. As the Web’s assistant editor, she gathered and summarized trucking and other transportation information for TransportTopics.com.

“This is an exciting move for me,” said Botchie. “The trucking industry today is interesting and dynamic and I’m looking forward to the challenge of working with all of the state trucking associations.”

Howard Abramson, publisher of Transport Topics, said, “Botchie is a welcome addition to the TT news weekly. Her new assignment is part of our overall effort to strengthen and deepen our reporting staff for all of our news services.”

Botchie boasts roots in a trucking family. Her father, Edward Botchie, is vice president and general manager of Cressler Trucker in Shippensburg, Pa., an uncle drove 3 million miles accident-free for Consolidated Freightways and a great-grandfather drove a coal truck.

Before graduating from Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, Pa., in 1999, Botchie was an intern at the Pennsylvania Motor Truck Association and served as public relations director for Cressler Trucking. After graduation, she did a stint as a sports editor for The Gazette in Chambersburg, Pa.

With trucking and newpapers in her blood, Jennifer’s says her migration to Transport Topics’ print side was a natural. “It’s great to become part of a publication I have read and admired for several years,” she said.
