Jobless Claims Fall by 13,000 for Week

Initial jobless claims fell by 13,000 last week to 313,000, the Labor Department said Thursday.

Economists had forecast a decline to 315,000 from the previous week, Bloomberg reported.

The less-volatile four-week moving average rose by 1,000 claims to 316,000.

The number of people continuing to collect benefits fell to 2.49 million for the previous week ended June 16, from 2.527 million a week earlier, Labor reported.
