Initial jobless claims decreased last week, the Labor Department said Thursday.

Claims declined by 15,000 for the week ended Saturday, to 358,000, Labor said.

Economists had forecast 370,000 new claims, Bloomberg reported.

The four-week moving average, a less volatile measure, declined to 366,250, the lowest since April 2008.

Continuing jobless claims for the previous week ended Jan. 28 increased by 64,000 to 3.52 million.
