Jobless Claims Fall for Week

Initial jobless claims fell by 33,000 last week, the Labor Department said Thursday.

Claims fell to 342,000 for the week ended Saturday, Labor said. Economists had forecast an increase to 375,000 claims, Bloomberg reported.
 
The four-week moving average, a less volatile measure, fell to 369,500, from 376,750.
 
The number of people continuing to collect unemployment benefits fell to 2.934 million for the previous week ended April 12, from a four-year high of 2.999 million the prior week.
