Jobless Claims Rise for Week

Initial jobless claims rose by 15,000 last week, the Labor Department said Thursday.

Claims for the week ended Saturday rose to 627,000 from a revised 612,000 the previous week, Labor said.

The four-week moving average, a less volatile measure, fell to 617,250, from 616,750 a week earlier, Labor said.

The number of Americans collecting jobless benefits rose by 29,000 for the prior week ended June 13, to 6.74 million.
