Kenan Advantage Group on Aug. 20 announced that it acquired specialty transportation provider TransVac.

TransVac is a transporter of chemicals, water treatment products and plastic. KAG ranks No. 21 on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of the largest for-hire carriers in North America and No. 1 on the tank/bulk carriers sector list.

KAG in a release noted that the addition of Abbeville, La.-based TransVac adds to its specialized operations.

“There is so much upside to bringing TransVac and its skilled employees into the KAG family of companies,” said John Rakoczy, executive vice president of operations for KAG Specialty Products. “The combination provides us with a highly specialized fleet of trailing assets that will allow us to expand our service offering to existing chemical customers with additional capacity, especially in the Louisiana and Arkansas markets. It also enhances our growing chemical storage capabilities.”

Along with specialized operations, KAG also has a division for energy and food products, as well as logistics operations.

TransVac drivers, as well as its operations team, will be offered additional career opportunities as part of the deal. KAG noted that TransVac workers already understand the needs of their customers and the uniqueness of the chemical transportation industry.
