Kansas City Southern’s 3Q Earnings Rise

Kansas City Southern railroad said its third-quarter earnings jumped 58%, as it handled more autos, coal and chemicals.

KCS earned $41.8 million or 48 cents per share for the quarter, up from $26.4 million or 32 cents a year ago.

Revenue rose 7% to $444.1 million.

The rail line also said it would seek approval from both the U.S. and Mexican governments to build a new rail bridge over the Rio Grande River, southeast of Laredo, Texas, the Kansas City Star reported.
