Kentucky Transportation Secretary Resigns

Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Secretary Mike Hancock resigned March 3, four months after Republican Gov. Matt Bevin won election to the seat previously held by Democrat Steve Beshear.

Bevin quickly named deputy secretary Greg Thomas as the acting replacement for Hancock, who had been appointed secretary by Beshear in 2010.

Thomas, who had been appointed deputy secretary in February, previously worked in the electric power distribution industry in Kentucky.

The Transportation Cabinet functions is Kentucky’s equivalent of a Department of Transportation overseeing state roads and bridges and issuing drivers’ licenses and registrations.
