PHILADELPHIA — Kenworth Truck Co. General Manager Preston Feight confirmed here that his company will not exhibit at the Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, Kentucky, in March.

Feight spoke at a Kenworth press conference Oct. 17 at the Management Conference & Exhibition of American Trucking Associations. He said the company will be introducing a new 40-inch sleeper for the T880 truck in March, but it will not be at MATS.

Feight said Kenworth has been enjoying “a wonderful year,” including an increase in heavy-duty market share.

He also said the company, a division of Paccar Inc., as is Peterbilt Motors Co., will start selling its MX-11 engine in January. Paccar started its MX line of engines, now built in Columbus, Mississippi, in 2010 with a 13-liter power plant.

Kenworth also sells trucks with the Cummins Inc. ISX-12.

Feight said the MX-11 will target less-than-truckload and regional over-the-road fleets, and ready-mix and dump trucks on the vocational side.

Feight said that even with diesel fuel prices at a relatively low level, the company is continuing its focus on fuel economy because customers demand it.

As for MATS, North America’s largest annual trucking show, Daimler Trucks North America started a wave earlier this year by announcing it would only participate in odd-number years. In even-number years, it would focus on the enormous show in Hanover, Germany.

Since then, Volvo and Mack Trucks of Volvo Group and Navistar International Corp. also said they would not participate in MATS 2016. Until Feight’s announcement, the two Paccar companies were the only heavy-duty truck makers not to declare their plans.
